This will be my third year of teaching at Helena High School and though it looks much different to start I am looking forward to meeting new students and getting the year going. I teacher Earth Science, Honors Earth Science and will be adding AP Environmental Science (APES) to my classes this year.
In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, and doing just about any outdoor activity with my husband and our dog. I grew up in Colorado then moved to Montana where I graduated from MSU-Bozeman (Go Cats!) with a degree in Secondary Education, Broadfield Science.
During the school year I will be sharing information and assignments through the Microsoft Teams platform in conjunction with Microsoft Teams OneNote. It is my intention at the start of the school year to teach my students to use these apps but I will also have available some short instructional videos if students are confused or needing to work from home. I have structured my classroom for the last two years with these programs and feel the online platform gives students many benefits, for one, they can’t lose assignments!

If you have questions please let me know through Teams or email.
Have a great Wednesday!
Happy Monday Folks,
I hope you had a good weekend! Today students need to login to Teams and complete the article reading and questions that I posted to assignments last Friday. That is due today at 11:59pm!
Students may also work on the extra credit assignment also posted to their Teams page.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. firstname.lastname@example.org or students may contact me through Microsoft Teams.
Happy Friday Folks,
Today there is a new assignment added on Teams: How do planets form?
This is an article and video to read and watch then a couple questions to answer. Please use full sentences.
Additionally I added an extra credit assignment that will be due next Friday if you would like to work on that as well.
Hope you’re doing well! Let me know how you’re doing or if you have questions.
It looks like a regular spring day in Montana, it’s currently snowing at my house. Seems about right.
All right, the goal for today is to complete the online survey in Teams if you haven’t already. It is due by 3:30 Friday afternoon.
Tomorrow I will push out another reading/question assignment about planet formation.
Whew, it’s been a busy few days, a few students have already completed the survey on Teams. This assignment gives me some basic information of students ability to get things done online. It needs to be done by Friday evening.
A few students have said that an Earth Science Remind App class would be helpful. I will set that up as one class for everybody to join if they would like.

Hello! What a weekend!
Starting later this week we will be doing classes from online platforms. For my Earth Science classes we will be using Microsoft Teams for our assignments. I will post daily assignment descriptions and updates here on my website but assigned material will be in Microsoft Teams. Teams allows me to assign material and quickly see who has been working on the assignments and who has not.
To login to Teams outside of school please go to the district website and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see an Office365 button, select this and sign in using your regular school username and password. If you are concerned that you cannot access this please let me know right away by emailing me email@example.com or calling 324-2283. I will be at school today planning for the next two weeks and will help as much as I can.
2/18: Students will finish their Spectroscopy Lab Analysis questions from Friday. As a class we will review for a quiz Thursday.
2/19: Students will be taking the iReady Mastery Check online
2/20: Students will be taking a short online quiz covering the interior of the sun, energy transfer mechanisms in the sun, and the life of our star including nuclear fusion. Afterwards they will be watching the movie Apollo 11, footage from the moon landing.
2/21: Students will finish the movie Apollo 11 and complete a movie review sheet to turn in.
This unit will look at what is the difference between weather and climate, what makes weather and how is it forecast. Additionally the unit will have a group presentation which includes students researching a type of severe weather and teaching the class about it in place of a written test.
This will be a multiple choice mid-unit quiz because there will not be an end of unit quiz after Winter Break.
