There will be no AP Chemistry summer homework assignment this year!
2020-2021 will by my 5th year teaching Chemistry at Helena High School. I taught Biology and AP Biology for 7.5 years in Washington before we moved to Montana in January of 2012 during a massive snow storm. After I moved I tried some other jobs before the siren song and glamour of teaching high school pulled me back in. I worked at DPHHS in the Public Health Lab, ExplorationWorks as the Education Director, and then Starbase, where I taught STEM to over 1,000 fifth graders. I have been married for 25 years and have two kids; my daughter Katie is in the Graphic Design program at MSU and my son Jake is studying to become an EMT. As a parent of two HHS graduates, I know what a great place this is, as a parent AND a teacher! Go Bengals!
The summer review assignment is due on the first day of class, Thursday, August 29th at the start of class.
Subjects we will explore are Matter, Atomic Structure, Electron Configuration, The Periodic Table, Ions and Metallic Bonding, Covalent Bonding, Nomenclature, The Mole, Chemical Reactions, Stoichiometry, States of Matter, Gases, Solutions, Thermochemistry, Kinetics and Equilibrium, and Acids and Bases.
