¡Hola amigos y Bienvenidos a la clase de español!  Below is where you can find information about Spanish 1 or 3. ¡Hasta pronto!

Make Up Work for Absences

When you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get, complete, and turn in or get credit for any missed classwork, quizzes / tests, and homework assignments. When you miss class, you are missing input from class, which is really hard to make up. So, you need to spend 20 minutes for each day you are gone “immersed” in Spanish to make up for the lost class time.

How to make up work when you are absent: Go to my website: www.hhs.helenaschools.org/teachers/ttucker/ and click on the tab titled Make Up Work for Absences. Pick 1 or more links from the gigantic list of options. Spend at least 20 minutes working and be sure to include the following information when you return: on a piece of paper tell me WHAT you did / listened to, HOW MUCH TIME you spent, and WHAT YOU STUDIED / LEARNED. Doing this make up work takes the place of La Entrada / your participation grade for the day. You are also responsible for getting any notes or assignments that we did in class. Write “ABSENT” on top of any work so it is not marked late.

In Spanish I, you will use the language everyday, learn lots of new vocabulary and some grammar. You will gain comfort in the language, by reading, writing, listening and speaking Spanish daily. Take heart – I didn’t learn Spanish until I was 24. You are well on your way and You can Spanish! 🙂 We use interactive activities frequently in class and you should be prepared to use Spanish in class daily and as much as possible. Mistakes are part of the learning and my goal is to have you learning for mastery and proficiency. Let’s have a great year!

In Spanish 3, we will use Spanish everyday. There will be more vocabulary, more grammar, and a lot more interaction. My goal is that you gain more comfort in the language by the end of the year by reading, writing, listening and speaking Spanish daily. We use interactive activities frequently in class – ranging from internet sources, to music, to dance, to food, to films, to your presentations & projects. Making mistakes is a part of the process in language learning, so don’t be worried about making them. My goal is to have you learning for mastery and developing proficiency!
