Counseling and Career Guidance

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year!

HHS Counseling and Career Department provides information and assistance with academic progress, course selection, careers, college searches, scholarships, financial aid, and other post-secondary opportunities.  Individual guidance and classroom group instruction are provided to assist students in making educational and vocational/career plans. Additionally, our staff offers personal and social support to individuals and families. Students are assigned to counselors by last name.

2026-2027 Course Registration

  • Juniors (English 3): Monday, February 9
  • Sophomores (Biology): Tuesday, February 17
  • Freshmen (Social Studies): Monday, February 23

Data entry for registration requests will take place on the Friday following the classroom presentation. Students must have their registration form signed by a parent/guardian to have their course requests entered that day.

  • Juniors: February 13
  • Sophomores: February 20
  • Freshmen: February 20

Parent Night for current Sophomores and Juniors is on February 9th from 5pm-7pm in the HHS Theater and lobby.

We use a systematic approach to accomplish these goals with all students and families, including:

YEARLY PRESENTATIONS

Class registration, information nights, and social/emotion classroom lessons

OPEN OFFICE/WALK IN TIMES

Counselors keep “open office” time for general walk-in questions. Your individual counselor may not be available, but someone in the department will be available to assist you.

INDIVIDUAL APPOINTMENTS (Use Teams or email to set up appointments) —

Personal Interviews & Post Secondary Planning, general information, scheduling, career/college/scholarship opportunities, personal concerns/referrals, your counselor needs to see you for various reasons, etc.


All services provided by your school counselors are free, voluntary and completely confidential, except as required by law to the students, families, teachers and school staff in the Helena Public Schools.
